Fort Wayne has seen progress on development of the Riverfront Promenade, even introducing plans for the early stages of Phases II and III in November.
With a grand opening planned for next summer, the Fort Wayne Park Foundation is giving residents an opportunity to purchase an inscription on the Greenscape Step within the park for a donation of $500 to $4,999.
The money collected from that will create a legacy endowment for Promenade Park.
While this phase of the larger Riverfront development was funded by Legacy funds, Regional Cities dollars and private sources, none of those dollars were earmarked for an endowment. The purpose of the endowment is to ensure funding for maintenance and renovations in the future.
