As the Hoosier State enters the fourth stage of Governor Eric Holcomb’s “Back on Track” plan to gradually “reopen” the state, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation is announcing numerous openings and cancelations.
The Botanical Conservatory has reopened with a new exhibit called “Present Tense, Future Calm,” a garden that encourages its visitors to “explore a garden state of mind” and featuring a half-dozen unique “rooms” to experience. On Monday, June 15, the downtown Community Center will reopen “to limited capacity.”
Both will open in accordance with the governor’s plan, even though numbers of COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths have been on the rise over the last week in Northeast Indiana.
Visitors are being asked to “follow social distancing recommendations and take proper precautions against the virus. The department adds that its staff will provide increased sanitation efforts, and some children’s exhibits at the conservatory will remain closed.
But not every summer activity is getting the green light to resume.
The department announced it will be postponing the following concerts at the Foellinger Theater until 2021:
- Air Supply
- REO Speedwagon
- The Beach Boys
- DSL*Dire Straits Legacy
- Hotel California: A Salute to the Eagles
- Rumours – The Music of Fleetwood Mac
- Stayin’ Alive – The Sound of the Bee Gees
- Kenny Cetera’s Chicago Experience
