Love Is In The Ear: Fort Wayne Singer Songwriter Talks Love Songs

Credit Courtesy/Fred Rothert
Fred Rothert has been sharing love songs on stage for over four decades.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, love is in the air -- and love songs are in the heart.

If you have a favorite, you're in good company;  songs about the ups and downs of being in love have been stealing hearts and topping charts since ancient times.

For an inside look at this ubiquitous tradition, WBOI's Julia Meek followed Cupid's arrow, which pointed her directly to Fort Wayne-based singer/songwriter Fred Rothert, for a first-hand musical lesson on the language of love.

A Fort Wayne native, Julia is a radio host, graphic artist, and community volunteer, who has contributed to NIPR both on- and off-air for forty years. Besides being WBOI's arts & culture reporter, she currently co-produces and hosts Folktales and Meet the Music.
