Director, Allison Ballard, notes that Jester members and crew works hard to realize their goals, and create art--a powerful experience.

The Jesters of the University of Saint Francis is a performing arts group of individuals with disabilities, ages 8 through seniors.

Their remarkable abilities lie in wowing audiences with full-scale, original multi-media productions, for the past forty years. And they'll be presenting their latest, "Heads or Tails, Hands and Hearts," this weekend, at the University's North Campus auditorium.

This arena, to teaching artist, Frank Louis Allen, encourages and supports confidence, and a high level of performance.

Laid out in a collage-like format, the entire production is co-created by the entire team, beginning in September. Developed on and around the theme of community, this year's theatrical tour de force will include dancing, poetry, rap, improv, singing and an assortment of instrumental offerings, from guitar, ukelele, and cello to drum kit, harmonica and xylophone.

For a look behind the scenes, WBOI's Julia Meek caught up with director, Allison Ballard and teaching artist, Frank Louis Allen to discuss the scope of the group's dedication, and its sure-fire method for a winning performance.
