After three medical mission assignments in Haiti, local photojournalist and writer Ellie Bogue is showing a selection of that work at the Unitarian Universalist Church Gallery through September 22nd.

A little over two decades after her first trip, Bogue looks forward to returning to Haiti this spring with the University of Saint Francis' group of nursing and premed students who, along with professional medical alumni, continue to help out at an orphanage and local rural hospital there.

Last week, WBOI's Julia Meek invited Ellie into the studio to talk about the motivation for these trips, the scope of the collection and what it represents to the community, as well as her own life's work.
