South Side Advocate Planting Hope, Harvesting Love

There's a lot happening at Saint Henry Catholic Church and Community Center on the city's south side these days despite Coronavirus restrictions, thanks to the resourcefulness of its property manager, Paul Gerardot.

Always a hub for civic minded projects and worthy causes since it was formed in the 1950's, the parish continues to offer assistance to a vast assortment of people in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.

For a look behind the scenes, WBOI's Julia Meek did a quick, socially distanced photo shoot on-site and then contacted Gerardot by phone to get a virtual tour of the facility as well as a glimpse into his personal philosophy.

You can connect with Gerardot and all of the projects at the Saint Henry Catholic Church and Community Center Facebook page.

A Fort Wayne native, Julia is a radio host, graphic artist, and community volunteer, who has contributed to NIPR both on- and off-air for forty years. Besides being WBOI's arts & culture reporter, she currently co-produces and hosts Folktales and Meet the Music.
