One Dead, One Suspect In Custody Following Purdue Shooting

Purdue’s police chief says the campus is safe following a shooting Tuesday morning that left one suspect dead on the university's West Lafayette campus.

John Cox says a male suspect was taken into custody within moments of shooting another male in the basement of the Electrical Engineering building.

He says all indications are this was not a random act of violence.

Cox says the suspect surrendered without incident and did not make any statements to arresting officers.

The Electrical Engineering building will remain closed until the investigation is complete.

Cox says the names of the suspect and the victim will be released by the Tippecanoe County Coroner.
