The United Way of Allen County will soon have new leadership.

The organization announced Monday that David Nicole, 38, has been chosen to become UWAC’s new president and CEO. He’s expected to start in November.

The full UWAC board of directors voted to appoint Nicole at its Sep. 11 meeting.

Board Chairman Steve Smith said in a statement the organization is eagerly anticipating working with Nicole.

"The arrival of a new CEO for any organization brings a robust opportunity for creative new beginnings," Smith said.

Nicole is currently a vice president at Trident United Way in Charleston, South Carolina, and has worked at the Trident location in various roles since 2001.

Nicole is a Fort Wayne native, and attended Saint Charles Borromeo school before moving to Ohio and eventually graduating from the University of Akron. He later earned his MBA from the University of South Carolina.

Nicole will replace current CEO Todd Stephenson, who’s set to retire September 30th.
