Foellinger Foundation Grants $1.25 Million For Nonprofit Infrastructure

Foellinger Foundation

The Foellinger Foundation is awarding more than a million dollars in grants to support three nonprofit organizations in Allen County. The announcement was made Thursday.

The grants from the private charitable foundation total $1,250,000. The United Way of Allen County will receive a one-time only grant of $400,000 to help support its operations and dozens of partner agencies.

The  organization has fallen short in its fundraising efforts for the past three years, and  says this assistance addresses short-term and long-term needs.

UWAC President David Nicole says the money will both allow the organization to  continue to provide services and help it raise money for the future. Nicole says it "allows United Way to leverage resources in the  community, to grow our campaign, but also to strategically place ourselves as an  organization in our community.”

Nicole says an additional $200,000  grant from Foellinger will be used to  match funds from high-level donors. The nonprofit is also teaming up with the Community Foundation of Greater Fort  Wayne to work on strategic planning.

The Community Foundation itself received $500,000 Thursday. Arts United received $150,000.
