Ivy Tech Recruiting Displaced ITT Tech Students

IVY TECH

One week after ITT Technical Institutes shut down all of its campuses across the country, students who were enrolled with the chain are looking for ways to continue and complete their degrees. ITT Tech was barred from enrolling students using financial aid late last month, and ceased operations last week leaving many students displaced.

Ivy Tech Northeast is actively recruiting those displaced students looking for a new academic home with information sessions.

These meetings will include breakout sessions with academic programs, and enrollment and financial aid specialists will be on hand to answer questions or concerns.

While credits can’t be transferred from ITT to Ivy Tech, students are given the chance to test out of various courses, and waivers may be available for certain tests.

Ivy Tech vice chancellor of student affairs Chris Cathcart says the decision to host these sessions came from hearing the concerns of several displaced ITT Tech students. He says Ivy Tech would like to make any transition as smooth as it can be.

“We’re looking at as many alternatives as possible, because we know there are people out there that have done a lot of work, and we want to try and honor as much as we can and still make sure they can be productive citizens,” Cathcart says.

The information sessions will be next Friday and Saturday, September 23 and 24. An online RSVP is required; you can do that by clicking here or by calling (260) 480-4268.
