Allen County Auditor Tera Klutz Named Next Indiana Auditor

Lisa Ryan
Auditor Tera Klutz and Gov.-elect Eric Holcomb interviewed by reporters

Allen County Auditor Tera Klutz was named the next state auditor by Gov.-elect Eric Holcomb Monday.

The newly appointed statewide officer was announced at a press conference in Fort Wayne.

Klutz was named Indiana’s next chief financial officer because of a vacancy left by the state’s current auditor. Suzanne Crouch, who currently holds the position, was named the next lieutenant governor.

Holcomb says he chose Klutz to replace Crouch because they have both worked to increase government transparency in their respective offices.

“We’re just so pleased and proud of what (Klutz has) been able to accomplish here as a model and take that to the Statehouse and build on what we’re trying to do as well. So we’re all going to benefit, every Hoosier,” Holcomb said.

Klutz was first elected Allen County auditor in 2010, but says she never expected to serve in a public office. She says she loves her job now, and looks forward to serving at the state level.

“Besides being super excited about the opportunity to work at the state, I’m also very knowledgeable about all the work ahead in just the next week, trying to make sure we transition well from here, and leave well, and make sure the office is going to be in good hands,” Klutz said.

She says she isn’t sure about whether she will continue to live in Allen County.

Klutz, along with her predecessor Crouch, will be inaugurated during a ceremony on Jan. 9 in Indianapolis.
