Super Shot Celebrates 25 Years Of Service
After a measles outbreak in 1992, local hospitals joined forces to provide children free or low-cost immunizations.
Out of those efforts a non-profit was created with a mission to break down the barriers of access and cost by operating four immunization clinics throughout Allen County. Super Shot has made vaccinations accessible to the community for 25 years.
Indiana ranks 49th worst in public health spending in the nation. WBOI’s Araceli Gomez-Aldana spoke with Connie Heflin, Executive Director of Super Shot and Greg Perigo Director of Strategic Partnerships at Indiana Tech and a Super Shot board member. They discuss how the small non-profit has managed to vaccinate over 200,000 children.
