Operation Santa Stops In Warsaw

United States Postal Service

For more than 100 years, the United States Post Office has coordinated Operation Santa with post offices across the country. This year, Hoosiers will be able to adopt letters in the city of Warsaw, and help grant children’s wishes.

And there’s still time for children to get letters to Santa through the US Post Office. Hoosier children can drop letters off at the Warsaw Market St. Post Office, or can mail them to “Santa.” Warsaw is one of 15 locations nationwide where residents can adopt letters in person and donate requested gifts.

Spokesperson for USPS Mary Dando said the long-running program has been a holiday staple for the USPS with the aim of spreading cheer to children throughout the holidays.

“The children who write, sometimes they don’t ask for toys, or that, sometimes they ask for things for their parents,” Dando said, “Some of them are so touching, when you read these letters.”

Precautions are also set in place. Dando said addresses are kept private, and information shared about the children writing letters is kept to a minimum.

Letters can be adopted at the Warsaw Post Office at 365 Market St. from December third through December 17, from 9 a.m. through 2 p.m. Dando encourages program participants to ensure that packages are mailed by December 20, just in time for the holidays.
