FWPD Looking For Suspect Using Genetic Genealogy

Provided by Fort Wayne Police Department

Fort Wayne Police are again turning to genetic genealogy to identify an unknown male suspect in a series of assaults.

Detectives are searching for a man responsible for three sexual assaults between September 2015 and May 2017 on the city’s southeast side.

The three assaults took place in a relatively confined geographic area in southeast Fort Wayne: in the 4500 block of Park Drive, 5000 block of Bowser Avenue and 5200 block of Bowser Avenue.

The DNA technology used to compile an image of the suspect is the same used to solve the 30-year-old case of April Tinsley last year. In December, John D. Miller was sentenced to 80 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder and child molesting in connection to the 1988 abduction of the 8-year-old girl.

Anyone with any information regarding the sexual assaults or who think they might recognize an individual similar to the composite "Snapshot" should contact police:

* Detective Lorna Russell at 260-427-1372

* Detective Bureau at 260-427-1201

* Crime Stoppers at 260-436-7867
