Indiana Agencies Get Data Grant To Align Workforce, Education

The National Science Foundation has awarded a grant to encourage data sharing between Indiana education and workforce organizations. It aims to strengthen the partnership between the Lumina Foundation and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.

The NSF awarded $400,000 to Credential Engine, a national nonprofit that works in Indiana to provide information about professional certifications. With the money, they’ll improve their software’s capabilities to deliver better insights to state agencies and lawmakers.

Charlee Beasor is a spokesperson for the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. She says more collaboration around data will help them to reach a goal of getting 60 percent of all Hoosiers a career credential by 2025.

“The commission views the need to align key data systems as one way to continue removing barriers for Hoosier learners,“ she says.

Workshops will be held in coming months to pinpoint where the gaps in data are and how that information could be used to serve Indiana’s workforce.
