Ruoff Mortgage Reveal Plans For Downtown Fort Wayne Headquarters

Representatives from the City of Fort Wayne and Ruoff Mortgage unveiled plans for the Ruoff’s downtown corporate headquarters Monday afternoon.

The price tag for the structure will be $43.5 million, and will be located in the vacant lot sitting across from Parkview Field on the corner of Jefferson and Ewing. It will feature 110,000 square feet of leasable office and retail space, as well as a nine-story parking garage.

Ruoff is currently headquartered on Magnavox Way in the city’s southwest side.

Both parties are still working to finalize an economic development agreement. Ruoff president and CEO Mark Music has called Fort Wayne his hometown since 1973, and says it made sense for them to build their headquarters downtown.

“So this is a big deal for us, to get this project done as we compete on a national stage now against Loan Depot and Quicken, it’s critical that we provide a work environment for the talented folks that matches the level of service they’re providing every day.”

Once the EDA is official, it will have to be approved by the city’s plan and redevelopment commissions, as well as City Council. If the EDA passes through, construction is expected to take 20-24 months.

The project reveal comes amid a flurry of major development announcements over the last month. In September, the city unveiled a mixed-use northeast corner of Superior and Harrison streets -- the city’s “premiere riverfront property”; last Thursday, an EDA for Headwaters Lofts was announced, adding to a total of $181 million.
