Indiana Farm Bureau President Hopeful On Recent Trade Announcements

Farmers across the state gather in French Lick this weekend for the Indiana Farm Bureau Annual State Convention.

The event comes as the U.S. says it reached a first phase deal to end the trade war with China and U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says there will be a vote on the United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA).

After delayed planting due to weather reduced annual yields, Indiana Farm Bureau President Randy Kron says during his address the news is welcome.

“You know after the down year that we had, it’s been a tough challenging year, having a little bit of good news to close this year out is going to be great,” says Kron. “I just like to see the ink dried on the line. And actually, I’d like to see some boats headed to China with beans on them.”

While the House may vote on USMCA, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he will not call for a vote until after the New Year.
