United Way Creates COVID-19 Emergency Fund, Community Foundation Chips In $50,000

United Way of Allen County is working to build an Emergency Relief Fund in preparation for the spread of COVID-19.

 

United Way is investing 100,000 dollars into the fund and asking local funders and individuals to donate as well. On Thursday, the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne gave them $50,000.

 

In a release Tuesday, the organization said its committed to providing support and service to the community under the unique circumstance of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

One hundred percent of the money raised by the fund will be invested back into the community’s needs. United Way will not be charging administration costs and will be working alongside nonprofits.

 

They will also be working with Parkview, Indiana 2-1-1 and the Allen County Department of Health to make data-based decisions moving forward.

 

The funds purpose is to offer a collaborative source of funds for service providers during the COVID-19 crisis.
