Beginning Monday, East State Boulevard will be closed between Wells and Clinton streets for two months.
Crews are tying a new bridge to the existing roadway as part of a multi-year, multi-million dollar project.
The project replaces a 90-year-old bridge, adds pedestrian walkways and a connection to the Pufferbelly Trail. Motorists will have additional travel lanes, a straightened roadway and a turn lane where needed.
The new bridge will be in compliance with federal flood prevention requirements, and the project should help reduce flooding to the nearby neighborhoods.
