Neighborhood Health launched a new mobile-services unit on Tuesday. The van is part of continued efforts to expand health care services in underserved areas of Fort Wayne.

The van will initially be used for vaccines and COVID-19 education as Neighborhood Health works to increase vaccination rates in areas where the numbers are still low.

The van is equipped with wifi, a private exam area and on-board access to electronic health records. A generator will provide heating, cooling and lighting.

Telehealth services will allow van operators to connect with Neighborhood Health’s other locations to schedule appointments or provide telehealth visits.

COVID-19 information available onboard will be in multiple languages -- English, Spanish and Burmese -- to help reach more of the community and provide better access to information and care.
