An essential part of 89.1 WBOI’s mission is to ensure that voices from all sectors of our community are represented. Our newly-created New Generation Media (NGM) project is an initiative that both amplifies the voices of local students while providing them with hands-on media training.

New Generation Media has several important goals:

Sharing the unique voices and perspectives of students with the community.

Providing media skills and professional training to students; including reporting and storytelling, operating recording and editing equipment, and learning to meet deadlines and project requirements.

Encouraging students to pursue educational opportunities beyond high school.

Increasing students’ chances of success in their college education.
