IU will return to full attendance this fall at athletic events, including those at Memorial Stadium.

IU Athletics Director Scott Dolson made the announcement today, saying IU is following the advice of the IU Athletics Medical Advisory Group.

“I want to thank President McRobbie for accepting and supporting this recommendation, as well as President-Elect Whitten for her collaboration and backing of our plan to return to full capacity this fall,” Dolson said in a statement.

Head coach Tom Allen and his football team are coming off consecutive bowl games and are returning 19 starters from last year. The Hoosiers were ranked as high as No. 7 in the country in 2020.

The decision comes as the university restart committee recommended that all in-person campus activities this fall be normalized to a pre-pandemic level.

The statement said IU Athletics is following those guidelines along with those of state, local, and university health officials.

Changes in related COVID protocols this fall will be finalized later.
