Dozens of Jewish people gathered at the Indiana Statehouse Friday to protest against a bill that would largely ban abortion.

Bernard became the subject of attention and public attacks after she spoke with the media about an abortion she recently provided to a 10-year-old who reported a rape in Ohio. Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita took to Fox News to accuse Bernard – without evidence – of a history of non-compliance with state law.

IU Health said they conducted an investigation and found she was compliant with patient privacy laws.

The Vice President brought representatives from five states to the White House Friday to discuss abortion access.

IU Maurer School of Law professor Jody Madeira said that period tracking apps like Flo might be used to identify women at risk of having abortions. The app tracks menstrual cycle and period length, which makes it easier to indicate the potential for a pregnancy.

Indiana ranks in the bottom when it comes to maternal mortality. Some providers worry that the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade will have further health ramifications on Hoosier women.

The rally was organized in response to the leaked Supreme Court draft that would overturn Roe v. Wade.

Overturning Roe v. Wade, as a leaked draft document indicates the U.S. Supreme Court might do, would end the constitutional right to an abortion. For Michigan OB-GYN Lisa Harris, the leak confirmed she needed to double down.

A decision from the U.S. Supreme Court this summer could remove federal protections for abortion across the U.S. Most of the Midwest — and about half of all states — are certain or likely to ban or severely restrict access to abortion if given the chance.

The Indianapolis protest was one of hundreds this week, across the country, in response to the leaked draft Supreme Court opinion that shows it will likely overturn Roe v. Wade.
