Wooden Nickel's Bob Roets has been on board with Record Store Day since its initial planning stages in 2007.

Since its launch in 2008, National Record Store Day has grown nearly tenfold, and this year's celebration on Saturday promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Held annually on the third Saturday in April, it affords music lovers, artists and fans a chance to connect with the culture of the independently-owned record store.

For a look at the event's progress, and a sneak peek at the festivities planned  in Fort Wayne, WBOI's Julia Meek met with Wooden Nickel owner, Bob Roets earlier this week to discuss what he calls his "favorite day of the year."
