Marcus King: Raised On Blues And Ready To Rock It

King love the rush of energy to his body, soul and spirit that traditional blues music carries with it.

South Carolina's Marcus King is a young and dedicated, third generation musician with a fiery brand of American roots music he calls "soul-influenced, psychedelic southern rock."

A multi-instrumentalist, King was brought up on the blues, playing shows as a pre-teen sideman with his father, bluesman Marvin King, who himself was the son of a regionally-known guitarist.

Now Marcus is out on his own, traveling with his band, always ready to point out, with a grin, "They're the greatest band in show busines, I'm pretty biased to say."

As they're performing across the country,  and heading to Fort Wayne for a concert at C2G Music Hall, their second visit here, WBOI's Julia Meek caught up with King by phone to discuss his lust for life and music, and learn what drives his passion, shapes his style, and fills his heart with joy.
