Summer Of Fun And Excitement For PFW Arts Departments

Purdue Fort Wayne's official transition takes place July 1st, and John O'Connell, Dean of is College of Visual and performing arts, is excited for the changes ahead, and ready and for them to begin.

PFW's symphonic wind ensemble in concert with their host musicians in Gera, Germany.

To learn how everything is coming together for the arts departments this busy summer, and what other activities have been going on, WBOI's Julia Meek sat down with O'Connell to discuss the changes on the horizon, what the next year will bring, and how the orchestral wind ensembles recent European tour impacted the students and the host communities they visited.

A Fort Wayne native, Julia is a radio host, graphic artist, and community volunteer, who has contributed to NIPR both on- and off-air for forty years. Besides being WBOI's arts & culture reporter, she currently co-produces and hosts Folktales and Meet the Music.
