Benchmark Human Services is one of the organizations in our area that is working around the clock to provide care for Northeast Indiana's developmentally disabled population during this Coronavirus pandemic.

For a look at the challenges involved as well as the community being served, WBI's Julia Meek talked with its president, Doug Beebe, by phone about the mission Benchmark embraces and the complexities that task presents.

You can learn more about the organization's mission and scope at the Benchmark Human Services website.

A Fort Wayne native, Julia is a radio host, graphic artist, and community volunteer, who has contributed to NIPR both on- and off-air for forty years. Besides being WBOI's arts & culture reporter, she currently co-produces and hosts Folktales and Meet the Music.
