Community-led Journalism On The Ground In Southeast Fort Wayne

The goal of this project, say its editors, Kara Hackett & Britney Breidenstein, is to give voice to the population on the southeast side of Fort Wayne and let their stories be heard.

The weekly online magazine Input Fort Wayne is literally hitting the street this week with a new two-month series called "On the Ground Southeast."

From August through September of this year, Input will be seeking Southeast Fort Wayne-based writers and photographers to produce weekly stories that generate conversations around assets, challenges and opportunities in their neighborhoods, as determined by the residents themselves.

On the eve of this week's launch date, WBOI's Julia Meek sat down with its editors, Kara Hackett and Britney Breidenstein, to discuss the neighborhood being served and what this two month, community-led journalism project will look like.

You can connect and become involved with On the Ground Southeast at the Input Fort Wayne website.

A Fort Wayne native, Julia is a radio host, graphic artist, and community volunteer, who has contributed to NIPR both on- and off-air for forty years. Besides being WBOI's arts & culture reporter, she currently co-produces and hosts Folktales and Meet the Music.
