The Delightful Dragon And The Bold Knight By Madison Gay

Tia McFarthing

Once in a dark forest, there was a cave. In that cave, there was a sleeping red dragon. The dragon was peaceful and was kind to everyone when they tried to get know him. One day there was a knight. He had armor as black as night from fighting dragons. He was in that same forest looking for a dragon to slay because he assumed they are all mean. The knight found a cave and shouted “ Dragon, I am here to slay you! With your callous claws, we will fight!”

“What do you want? “sighed the sleepy dragon.

“I am here to slay you!” proclaimed the knight.

The dragon replied,“ Leave my cave.”

Then the knight charged into the dark cave hoping to hit the dragon. Instead, he charged straight into a wall. You could hear the echo of armor in a town a hundred miles away. When the knight recollected himself he realized the dragon was actually on top of the cave. He exited and looked up and saw the dragon. It looked like it was as tall as a mountain!

The dragon boomed, “LEAVE!”

“NO!”, yelled the knight.

“Then I will make you leave”, replied the dragon.

Then, the dragon spread his wings and took flight. He picked up the knight with his claws and started to fly. While flying, the dragon suddenly asked, ”Why did you come after me while I was peacefully sleeping?”

“ I figured that you are mean like all of the other dragons I went after!” screamed the knight.

“We are only mean when we are attacked when we are peaceful and doing nothing wrong. What would you do if someone attacked you while you are sleeping?” replied the dragon.

“I would probably be outraged,” admitted the knight.

Then the dragon put down the knight and thought  of course he thought that dragons are mean. But, when you interrupt our nap time we are not only tired but mean. I am the only one that can control myself.

Then the knight realized maybe it was wrong of me to judge the dragon because of how fierce he looks. I'm going to give him the job of guarding the castle if he wants to.     “ Would you like to  guard the castle with me?” asked the knight.

The dragon replied,” I will guard the castle as long as you are the only one who rides me.”

“Deal!” yelled the knight.

The moral of the story is to become less judgemental.
