The Fort Wayne Police Department wants to know how the public perceives it.
On Tuesday, officials announced the opening of a city Engage portal to gather opinions about the department.
According to a release, the answers will help identify what qualities should guide the department’s future communications and public identity.
Questions address topics such as trust, transparency, professionalism, community
engagement, public-safety priorities, and how residents prefer to receive information from FWPD.
“Before we determine where we want to go, we need an honest understanding of where we are today,” Chief Paul Smith said in a release. “The feedback we receive will help us identify what the community values, where we are meeting expectations, and where we
have opportunities to improve.”
The department also announced the hiring of a civilian strategic communications manager in Ethan Dahlen.
Dahlen comes to the department after nearly five years as a multi-media journalist at W-A-N-E.
The survey is open to Fort Wayne residents and can be found at Engage Fort Wayne.
