Ivy Tech will not be raising its tuition for the 2021 and 2022 academic school years at all 19 of its campuses.
“We want students to be successful day one, the minute they start their classes,” Ivy Tech Bloomington Chancellor Jennie Vaughn said.
The tuition freeze applies to full- and part-time students. The school is also paying textbook fees for students in the 2021 academic school year.
“A lot of students just don’t buy books at all. Some wait to see a couple weeks in, ok I’ve got the money, now I can buy that book,” Vaughn said.
The Ivy Tech system received $91.1 million from Phase II of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund. Some of that money is being used to help defer textbook costs, according to Ivy Tech Senior Vice President for Business Affairs Dom Chase.
Ivy Tech is also capping tuition fees for full-time at $4,500 for as many credit hours as they want to take.
