Ted Cruz Stumps For Young In Allen County

Zach Bernard/WBOI News

Senate candidate Todd Young made his final pitch to Allen County Republicans Saturday, and he was joined by Texas senator, and former Republican presidential candidate, Ted Cruz.

Cruz joined Young at the Allen County GOP headquarters Saturday morning to help solidify Republican support in Young’s Senate battle against Democrat Evan Bayh.

Cruz’s message focused on jobs, freedom and security.

While Cruz said he was “working hard to defeat Hillary Clinton,” he stated that the most important factor in Tuesday’s election was for Republicans to maintain their majority in the Senate. Cruz says losing that majority could cost them the Supreme Court.

“If you care about the First Amendment; free speech, religious liberty. If you care about the Second Amendment; our right to keep and bear arms," said Cruz. "What’s at stake in this election is the direction of the Court for a generation.”

Cruz ended his presidential campaign back in May after he lost the Indiana primary.

Cruz frequently attacked Clinton in his 15-minute speech, though he did so without mentioning the name of the Republican nominee, Donald Trump.
