Fort Wayne Celebrates Addison Agen Day

Zach Bernard/WBOI News

Fort Wayne native Addison Agen captured national attention after finishing second place in the latest season of NBC’s The Voice. On Wednesday, Fort Wayne welcomed her home by designating January 17, 2018 as “Addison Agen Day.”

“Whereas Fort Wayne is incredibly proud of Addison’s achievements, and we will forever remember her positive impact on our city.”

That’s Mayor Tom Henry, reading a portion of his Addison Agen Day proclamation.

The 16-year-old vocalist was on hand for the occasion. She says working in Los Angeles means you’re in somewhat of a bubble, and that things are different upon returning home.

“It’s an adjustment to really get out there and see all the fans who want to meet you and see you and hear you,” Agen said. “But it’s a fun adjustment, it’s good and it’s kind of a picture of what my life is going to look like.”

The next step for Agen’s career remains unknown; she says she wants to get into the studio to record, and hinted she may join Voice coach Adam Levine’s management team. Until then...

“I’ve been writing like crazy and figuring out band arrangements; that’s what I had a band practice for last night and it sounded pretty good, just going to put that out there,” she said.

“I’m excited for this next, upcoming year.”

In the meantime, Agen will play two sold out shows at the Embassy Theater this weekend, and will also perform as part of 89.1 WBOI’s All-Star Benefit Concert on February 17.
