Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch unveiled the Stellar Community designations for 2018, and Allen County is a major recipient of this year’s award.
The Stellar program is awarded annually by the Lieutenant Governor’s office, and “provides resources for transformative quality of place community improvements.” This year, applicants were required to partner with neighborhoods to highlight specific issues related to their respective area, while collaborating with the Lieutenant Governor’s office in finding solutions.
Grabill, Leo-Cedarville, Monroeville, New Haven, Woodburn and Allen County partnered to form the New Allen Alliance, which received $4.5 million from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
That money is expected to go toward parks in several communities, streetscape improvements in Leo-Cedarville and Woodburn, and New Haven is seeking a new community center for residents, among other projects.
