Headwaters Lofts Development One Step Closer

An economic development agreement is official between the City of Fort Wayne and Indianapolis-based developer Barrett & Stokely on a $67.5 million mixed-use project.

It will be located at the parking lot along Superior Street, west of Club Soda.

Headwaters Lofts has already cleared hurdles like Fort Wayne’s Plan Commission, and with the agreement officially in place, ground is expected to break either before the end of the year or in early 2020, weather and government process permitting.

The six-story structure would house 232 residences, feature 12,000 square feet of first-floor retail space and a 651-space parking garage in a single, brick building. It is estimated the project could be completed by late 2021 or early 2022.

The structure is independent of a different, $70 million mixed-use development located near Promenade Park; Barrett & Stokely are also the developers for that project.

But this isn’t the final step in the process; the agreement will be presented to Fort Wayne’s redevelopment commission on Monday/this afternoon, before final approval from City Council.
