Indiana’s Office of Community and Rural Affairs has awarded the Town of Leo-Cedarville $750,000 for a streetscape revitalization project.
The funding comes as part of Leo-Cedarville’s role as a member of the NewAllen Alliance, a collection of seven communities surrounding Fort Wayne that earned state designation as a “Stellar Community” in 2018. The streetscape improvements were included in the alliance’s East Allen Rural Revival Regional Development Plan.
The improvements would focus on completing and repaving sidewalks, streets and crosswalks, making ramps compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, beautify the area with better lighting and greenery, in addition to other improvements.
Leo-Cedarville’s ultimate goal is to create a pedestrian-friendly streetscape environment that promotes an increase in public awareness, safety and interest in businesses in the downtown area.
Information sessions will be held for property owners who may be affected by the plans, as well as residents who may have questions. Those will be announced later this spring.
