Northeast Indiana Coronavirus Numbers Continue To Increase

CDC

Update at 10:20 Friday, March 27:

Allen County reported 22 positive tests for the coronavirus Friday morning, up from 10 cases a day before.

Only one fatality has been reported in the county.

Additional cases have been reported in northeast Indiana: in Adams, Wells, Noble and DeKalb counties.

Whitley County Health Department is reporting it has its first individual to test positive for the coronavirus. Individuals who had contact with this person are being notified and advised to watch for symptoms.

Statewide, as of Thursday afternoon, Indiana had 645 confirmed cases according to the Indiana Department of Health. Only eight are attributed to Allen County.

County health officials attribute the difference to a delay in reporting private lab testing results to the Indiana State Department of Health.

The virus has killed 17 statewide. Marion County has 293 cases, and there are another 126 cases in the counties surrounding Marion County, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

Indiana is currently under a stay-at-home order, effective from Wednesday through April 8.
