Curbside BBQ On Oxford to Hand Out Food, Supplies to Those in Need

Several groups from Fort Wayne’s southeast side are encouraging residents to safely come together this Sunday afternoon for a curbside barbecue.

From 2-4 p.m. Sunday, representatives from several community groups, including Utopian Community Grocery, Faith United Methodist Church and The Human Agricultural Cooperative will be handing out food and supplies to residents who come by Big Momma’s Kitchen on Oxford Street.

Ty Simmons, who organized the barbecue, said the hope is to make supplies available to people who may not have had the opportunity to get the basics, as well as protective equipment during the pandemic.

The groups will be handing out food and bottled water as well as masks and gloves, while encouraging and maintaining safe distancing. They’re also asking for donations of supplies; masks, gloves, alcohol, aloe vera, sage, toothpaste, toothbrushes, new grocery bags and toilet paper.
