Fort Wayne Zoo to Open to Members Only in June, Public in July

The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo will be opening to the public in July, officials announced Thursday.

On July 4, the zoo plans to fully open at normal capacity, in compliance with the Gov. Eric Holcomb’s current orders.

Bonnie Kemp spokeswoman for the zoo says they always said they would follow the guidance of the state and health professionals on when they could reopen.

“The decision was made that we could open at half capacity, starting June 14. We thought one of the best ways to do that was to open to members only with a timed ticket.”

The timed ticket will be available at the zoo’s website to current members of the zoo, and allows them to visit the attraction at a specific time after June 14.

Kemp says they’ll have a batch of tickets to sell for a certain time, every hour. This will allow the zoo to make sure visits are staggered and encourage social distancing among patrons.
