Amazon Announces Fort Wayne Delivery Center

Amazon

Amazon announced Thursday morning it will be opening a delivery center in Fort Wayne, which it says will help “speed up” deliveries in Allen County.

In a statement, Amazon says the center will create “hundreds” of full- and part-time jobs that will offer a minimum of $15 per hour. The company also says it will offer “entrepreneurship” opportunities to individuals to build their own delivery system through Amazon Flex.

The purpose of this distribution center and others like it across the country, Amazon says, is to provide flexibility to the delivery process. It will be located at 8610 Avionics Dr. near the Fort Wayne International Airport, in a 150,000 square foot shell building developed in a joint venture between Great Lakes Capital and Hagerman Group.

Mayor Tom Henry commented on the center, saying it will “bring additional jobs, revenue and growth to our community. This is a great win for our local workforce, entrepreneurs, and our citizens.”
