Local Rehab Facility Fights Outbreak Of COVID-19

There have been 2,972 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in Allen County, and 133 residents have died.

In recent days, a handful of those cases have been reported at Heritage Park Healthcare on Hobson Road in Fort Wayne.

 

According to the website of American Senior Communities, Heritage Park’s parent company, there are 54 cases of the disease in the facility and 15 residents have died. Nine residents have recovered.

 

One of those deaths has been reported in the past 72 hours, according to the website.

 

There are 10 active cases among the facility’s employees, with one new diagnosed employee in the past 24 hours. Nineteen employees have recovered from the illness, according to American Senior Communities.

 

Heritage Park Healthcare includes long-term care, memory care, and rehabilitation.

 

Elsewhere in northeast Indiana, a sixth death was reported in Whitley County on Thursday. The county currently has 108 positive cases, and a moving positive test average of 10 percent.

 

The state’s moving positive average is at 7 percent, and there are 764 patients hospitalized with COVID-19.
