COVID-19 7-Day Positivity Rates Improve Locally, A Little

Over the past few days, the area’s 7-day positivity rate for COVID-19 has improved slightly.

Adams, Huntington, Kosciusko, Noble and Wabash counties went from red to orange in recent days, largely due to the 7-day positivity rate, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.

Just over a week ago, all of northeast Indiana was in the red for COVID-19 7-day positivity rates, and most were also in the red for community spread over all.

DeKalb County reported four additional deaths Tuesday, bringing the county’s total to 48 lost due to COVID-19.

The area’s ICU capacity has improved to 15 percent, with 346 people hospitalized with the illness.

Statewide, there were 129 deaths and 4,347 positive cases reported Tuesday. Indiana total ICU capacity is at 23.9% and there 3,229 people hospitalized with the illness.

Northeast Indiana COVID-19 totals for Dec. 15:

  • Adams County: 18 new cases for 2,308 total. No new deaths for 28 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.1%.
  • Allen County: 178 new cases for 24,427 total. No new deaths for 394 total. 7-day positivity rate at 16.1%.
  • DeKalb County: 32 new cases for 2,606 total. Four new deaths for 48 total. 7-day positivity rate at 16.6%.
  • Huntington County: 23 new cases for 1,986 total. No new deaths for 18 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.5%.
  • Kosciusko County: 52 new cases for 6,005 total. One new death for 59 total. 7-day positivity rate at 13.6%.
  • LaGrange County: 14 new cases for 1,838 total. No new deaths for 40 total. 7-day positivity rate at 19.9%.
  • Noble County: 45 new cases for 3,453 total. No new deaths for 51 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.2%.
  • Steuben County: 21 new cases for 2,127 total. No new deaths for 16 total. 7-day positivity rate at 14.7%.
  • Wabash County: 25 new cases for 2,324 total. Two new deaths for 31 total. 7-day positivity rate at 14.3%.
  • Wells County: 16 new cases for 1,692 total. One new death for 43 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.7%.
  • Whitley County: 16 new cases for 2,065 total. No new deaths for 17 total. 7-day positivity rate at 21%.
