Another eight COVID-19 deaths were reported by the Allen County Health Department Thursday.
Another 281 residents tested positive for the illness. There have been 424 people killed by COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, and a total of 25,058 have tested positive in Allen County.
The virus has killed 2 percent of those infected with it around the state, according to the Regenstrief Institute which tracks COVID-19 hospitalizations and outcomes.
Of the more than 470,000 Hoosiers infected with the virus, 76 percent have recovered, and roughly 22 percent are actively battling COVID-19. The state’s positivity rate for the past seven days stands at 12.4 percent.
The majority of those hospitalized have been above the age of 60.
Statewide trends are improving slightly as of Thursday, with positive tests, emergency room visits and hospitalizations declining per capita, according to the Regenstrief Institute.
Northeast Indiana totals for Dec. 17:
- Adams County: 21 new cases for 2,362 total. No new deaths for 28 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.5%.
- Allen County: 281 new cases for 25,058 total. Eight new deaths for 424 total. 7-day positivity rate at 15.4%.
- DeKalb County: 29 new cases for 2,682 total. No new deaths for 49 total. 7-day positivity rate at 15.9%.
- Huntington County: 47 new cases for 2,059 total. One new death for 19 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.3%.
- Kosciusko County: 54 new cases for 6,183 total. One new death for 63 total. 7-day positivity rate at 13.1%.
- LaGrange County: five new cases for 1,872 total. Two new deaths for 42 total. 7-day positivity rate at 19.5%.
- Noble County: 44 new cases for 3,549 total. No new deaths for 52 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.0%.
- Steuben County: 29 new cases for 2,187 total. No new deaths for 16 total. 7-day positivity rate at 16.1%.
- Wabash County: 23 new cases for 2,385 total. Four new deaths for 36 total. 7-day positivity rate at 13.6%.
- Wells County: 15 new cases for 1,739 total. No new deaths for 43 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.0%.
- Whitley County: 26 new cases for 2,148 total. No new deaths for 17 total. 7-day positivity rate at 19.9%.
