Positivity Rates For COVID-19 Back Up Over 20% In Some NE Indiana Counties

COVID-19 7-day positivity rates are higher in a number of northeast Indiana counties Tuesday, in some cases going back over 20 percent.

ICU capacity shrank again, now at 20.6 percent remaining in northeast Indiana, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.

 

Allen County reported 29 additional deaths from COVID-19 on Tuesday, as part of ongoing reconciliation between state and county data.

 

There have been 483 Allen County residents who have died from the illness, and 27,513 have tested positive, according to the Allen County Department of Health.

 

Steuben and LaGrange counties have seen their 7-day positivity rates climb to over 20 percent, to 22.6 and 21.1 respectively. A week ago, the two counties were at about 18 percent.

 

According to state data, LaGrange County has had small outbreaks in two long-term care facilities. Those numbers lag a week behind the other public data.

 

Four additional deaths were reported in Huntington County, and three more in Wabash County.

 

Northeast Indiana statistics for Dec. 29:

  • Adams County: 18 new cases for 2,578 total. No new deaths for 31 total. 7-day positivity rate at 8.7%.
  • Allen County: 258 new cases for 27,513 total. 29 new deaths for 483 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.7%.
  • DeKalb County: 18 new cases for 2,937 total. One new death for 64 total. 7-day positivity rate at 14.5%.
  • Huntington County: 22 new cases for 2,364 total. Four new deaths for 37 total. 7-day positivity rate at 14.8%.
  • Kosciusko County: 31 new cases for 6,705 total. No new deaths for 68 total. 7-day positivity rate at 16.9%.
  • LaGrange County: Five new cases for 1,955 total. One new death for 53 total. 7-day positivity rate at at 21.1%.
  • Noble County: 28 new cases for 3,941 total. No new deaths for 54 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.2%.
  • Steuben County: 30 new cases for 2,575 total. One new death for 22 total. 7-day positivity rate at 22.6%.
  • Wabash County: 18 new cases for 2,574 total. Three new deaths for 43 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.1%.
  • Wells County: 8 new cases for 1,884 total. No new deaths for 45 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.1%.
  • Whitley County: 37 new cases for 2,426 total. No new cases for 20 total. 7-day positivity rate at 16.8%.
