As northeast Indiana nears the two-week mark after the Christmas holiday, cases, deaths and positivity rates for COVID-19 are all marching upward in most area counties.
There were 727 new cases of COVID-19 reported in northeast Indiana, and 15 deaths, according to the Indiana Department of Health.
Steuben County reported eight deaths Wednesday, as well as 64 new cases. The county’s 7-day positivity rate is at 24.3 percent.
ICU capacity is now down to 12.9 percent in northeast Indiana, and the number of those hospitalized with COVID-19 is at 247.
Statewide, available ICU capacity is at 22.6 percent.
There were 6,214 new cases reported throughout the state from Wednesday, with 80 deaths.
Northeast Indiana COVID-19 totals for Jan. 6:
- Adams County: 30 new cases for 2,743 total. No new deaths for 34 total. 7-day positivity at 9.1%.
- Allen County: 275 new cases for 29,386 total. Two new deaths for 510 total. 7-day positivity at 14.3%.
- DeKalb County: 41 new cases for 3,189 total. No new deaths for 68 total. 7-day positivity rate at 18.1%.
- Huntington County: 43 new cases for 2,580 total. One new death for 51 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.8%.
- LaGrange County: 22 new cases for 2,103 total. Two new deaths for 59 total. 7-day positivity rate at 19.0%.
- Noble County: 72 new cases for 4,282 total. No new deaths for 50 total. 7-day positivity rate at 13.6%.
- Steuben County: 64 new cases for 2,815 total. Eight new deaths for 36 total. 7-day positivity rate at 24.3%.
- Wabash County: 29 new cases for 2,702 total. No new deaths for 44 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.2%.
- Wells County: 20 new cases for 2,052 total. No new deaths for 45 total. 7-day positivity rate at 13.2%.
- Whitley County: 38 new cases for 2,617 total. One new death for 23 total. 7-day positivity rate at 20.3%
