While Fort Wayne Community Schools is now selling limited tickets to some school athletic events and Allen County is rolling back some COVID-19 gathering restrictions, Whitley County remains northeast Indiana’s hotspot.

According to state data, the county’s positivity rate is again up, on Thursday to 16.2 percent.

It is the only county in the area in the red for COVID-19 spread, with a rising positivity rate for the past 7-days, and the number of cases per 100,000.

Whitley is one of only five Indiana counties remaining in the red, and the only one north of Indianapolis.

On Wednesday, FWCS announced that they would sell limited tickets to family members to high school athletic events, including basketball, swimming and wrestling.

Allen County rolled back some restrictions on Wednesday after two weeks in the orange category--including allowing up to 50 individuals at a social gathering.

The majority of Allen County’s residents infected with COVID-19 are between the ages of 20-29.
