LaGrange County Shows Lowest COVID Spread, Other Counties Improve

LaGrange County is now in the “blue” for community spread of COVID-19, giving it the best score in the region and another marker of continuing current decline in the illness around Indiana.

LaGrange County has a current 7-day positivity rate of 2.8 percent, and a score on the state’s COVID-19 dashboard of 0.5, which includes 7-day positivity as well as number of cases per 100,000 residents.

 

Only Whitley and Noble counties remain in the orange for community spread. The remainder of northeast Indiana is in yellow, the second-best rating.

 

Two deaths were reported in the area on Wednesday, one each in Allen and Kosciusko counties. 

 

Seventy-four new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Allen County on Wednesday.

The area’s 7-day positivity rate stood at 6.5 percent, and there were 105 northeast Indiana residents hospitalized with COVID-19.

 

Statewide, 955 Hoosiers are hospitalized with the illness, and Indiana’s 7-day positivity rate is at 4.7 percent.

 

Northeast Indiana totals for Feb. 17:

  • Adams County: No new cases for 3,176 total. No new deaths for 49 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.3%.
  • Allen County: 74 new cases for 35,282 total. 1 new death for 625 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.8%.
  • DeKalb County: 16 new cases for 3,819 total. No new deaths for 75 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.8%.
  • Huntington County: 13 new cases for 3,311 total. No new deaths for 76 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.3%.
  • Kosciusko County: 13 new cases for 8,459 total. 1 new death for 107 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.0%.
  • LaGrange County: 2 new cases for 2,391 total. No new deaths for 70 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.8%.
  • Noble County: 15 new cases for 5,027 total. No new deaths for 75 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.4%.
  • Steuben County: 2 new cases for 3,325 total. No new deaths for 55 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.4%.
  • Wabash County: 4 new cases for 3,260 total. No new deaths for 74 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.4%.
  • Wells County: 3 new cases for 2,512 total. No new deaths 73 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.6%.
  • Whitley County: 9 new cases for 3,419 total. No new deaths 35 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.3%.
