March 19: COVID Positivity Rate Up Over Five Percent In Region, Again

Northeast Indiana’s 7-day COVID-19 positivity rate is again over 5.2 percent, marking a new high since a regional low of 4 percent on March 1.

The state’s 7-day positivity rate remains largely unchanged from the first of the month, hovering around 3 percent, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

 

The number of positive tests have also inched up in recent days, both statewide and locally. 

 

Only three northeast Indiana counties remain in the “blue,” with the state’s safest designation for COVID spread. 

 

Five area counties now have 7-day positivity rates of over 5 percent, and Whitley County is back up over 7 percent.

 

Vaccinated numbers around the region show Steuben County with the highest percentage of its population fully vaccinated, at 18 percent.

 

Only 7.7 percent of LaGrange County is fully vaccinated.

 

Northeast Indiana totals for March 19:

  • Adams County: 2 new cases for 3,301 total. 1 new death for 51 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.2%. 11.8% of county population fully vaccinated.
  • Allen County: 63 new cases for 37,018 total. No new deaths for 656 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.9%. 12.3% of county population vaccinated.
  • DeKalb County: 7 new cases for 3,961 total. No new deaths for 77 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.4%. 12.2% of county population fully vaccinated.
  • Huntington County: 7 new cases for 3,598 total. No new deaths for 78 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.3%. 15.7% of county population fully vaccinated.
  • Kosciusko County: 3 new cases for 8,688 total. No new deaths for 112 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.4%. 10.1% of county population fully vaccinated.
  • LaGrange County: No new cases for 2,444 total. No new deaths for 70 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.3%. 7.7% of county population fully vaccinated.
  • Noble County: 5 new cases for 5,185 total. No new deaths for 79 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.9%. 10.9% of county population fully vaccinated.
  • Steuben County: 2 new cases for 3,449 total. No new deaths for 57 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.1%. 18.1% of county population fully vaccinated.
  • Wabash County: 1 new cases for 3,367 total. No new deaths for 77 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.3%.  15.4% of county population fully vaccinated.
  • Wells County: 6 new cases for 2,672 total. 1 new death for 79 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.2%. 14.1% of county population fully vaccinated.
  • Whitley County: 1 new case for 3,583 total. No new deaths for 39 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.1%. 11.8% of county population fully vaccinated.
