March 31: Most Of Northeast Indiana Back In Yellow For COVID Spread

Wells County is back in the “orange” category for community spread of COVID-19, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

 

Only Noble, LaGrange and Adams counties remain in the “blue” category in Northeast Indiana, the state’s safest designation for COVID-19.

 

Wells County is now in the second- worst category, and the remaining counties in the area are all in yellow, the state’s second-best category.

 

This comes as Indiana drops all restrictions next week, as the state’s top health officials expressed concern about rising community spread during Wednesday’s last-regularly scheduled press briefing on the matter.

 

The press conferences have been an at-least weekly virtual occurrence since the beginning of the pandemic a year ago.

 

No new deaths were reported in northeast Indiana on Wednesday, but 7-day positivity rates were up again, locally and around the state.

 

Northeast Indiana totals for March 31 include:

 

  • Adams County: 5 new cases for 3,337 total. No new deaths for 51 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.3%. Total of county population fully-vaccinated at 14.7% 
  • Allen County: 73 new cases for 37,897 total. No new deaths for 663 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.4%. Total of county population fully-vaccinated at 14.5%.
  • DeKalb County: 4 new cases for 4,010 total. No new deaths for 78 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.4%. Total of county population fully-vaccinated at 14.8%.
  • Huntington County: 3 new cases for 3,670 total. No new deaths for 79 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.7%. Total of county population fully-vaccinated at 19.2%.
  • Kosciusko County: 17 new cases for 8,842 total. No new deaths for 112 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.5%. Total of county population fully-vaccinated at 12.8%.
  • LaGrange County: No new cases for 2,467 total. No new deaths for 70 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.3%. Total of county population fully-vaccinated at 9.2%.
  • Noble County: 11 new cases for 5,251 total. No new deaths for 80 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.5%. Total of county population fully-vaccinated at 13.5%.
  • Steuben County: 8 new cases for 3,510 total. No new deaths for 57 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.9%. Total of county population fully-vaccinated at 22.1%.
  • Wabash County: 5 new cases for 3,419 total. No new deaths for 77 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.0%. Total of county population fully-vaccinated at 18.0%.
  • Wells County: 8 new cases for 2,771 total. No new deaths for 79 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.6%. Total of county population fully-vaccinated at 16.3%.
  • Whitley County: 15 new cases for 3,646 total. No new deaths for 40 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.0%. Total of county population fully-vaccinated at 17.4%.
