Wells County is back in the “orange” category for community spread of COVID-19, according to the Indiana Department of Health.
Only Noble, LaGrange and Adams counties remain in the “blue” category in Northeast Indiana, the state’s safest designation for COVID-19.
Wells County is now in the second- worst category, and the remaining counties in the area are all in yellow, the state’s second-best category.
This comes as Indiana drops all restrictions next week, as the state’s top health officials expressed concern about rising community spread during Wednesday’s last-regularly scheduled press briefing on the matter.
The press conferences have been an at-least weekly virtual occurrence since the beginning of the pandemic a year ago.
