Photo Illustration by WBOI

Four more deaths due to COVID-19 were reported in northeast Indiana, three in Allen County and one in Noble County.

Eighty-seven new cases were reported Tuesday, and the area’s positivity rate for the past seven days stands at 6 percent, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

There were 50 people hospitalized in the area due to COVID-19, and ICU capacity stands at about 32 percent.

Indiana’s mask mandate expired Tuesday, though a number of agencies, organizations and governmental bodies are still requiring them, as are a number of businesses, including restaurants.

Statewide, the 7-day positivity rate stands at 4.5 percent, and there are 706 Hoosiers hospitalized with the illness.

Wells County is again in the orange, the state’s second-worst category for community spread of COVID-19.

The categories are determined by 7-day positivity rates and cases per 100,000 residents.

Only Noble, Adams and LaGrange counties remain in the state’s best category. The remainder of the area is in the yellow, the state’s second-best category.
